Categorize and plan collection & transport of clinical specimen to the laboratory and prioritise the prevention of hospital acquired infections. The crisis on increasing antibiotic resistance recommends the knowledge on judicial drug usage to prevent drug resistance. The awareness of Immunity, vaccination and its responses, towards an infectious disease helps in infection control.

About Department

Medical Microbiology is a large subset of microbiology, is a branch of medical science concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. We introduce the students to the exciting world of microbes and to make the students aware of various branches of microbiology, significance and contribution of each branch to mankind and other fields of medicine. 

Our vision is to be a leading department of infectious diseases research in relation to dentistry. The mission includes providing quality education in microbiology related to dentistry & inculcating good ethics in diagnosis & treatment. To encourage students to achieve proficiency, to pursue research activities related to emerging & re emerging microbial infections

The department activities include training the students both in theory, practical classes,research activities and to develop the skill and knowledge on applied and oral microbiology with aseptic precautions.
