Brief Professional Biography
Dr. Aravinthrajkumar Govindaraj is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and a Consultant Orthodontist with over five years of academic and clinical experience. He completed his BDS from Sri Ramakrishna Dental College and Hospitals, MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and subsequently earned a Ph.D. in Orthodontics. He holds Membership qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and was later awarded the Fellowship in Orthodontics (F.Orth RCPS Glasgow). He is also a Fellow of the International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics (FICCMO).
His professional interests lie in clear aligner therapy, direct-printed aligners, digital orthodontics, orthodontic photography, lingual orthodontics, and the development of orthodontic assessment indices. In addition to orthodontics, he has developed a special interest in temporomandibular disorders (TMD), orofacial pain, dental sleep medicine, and the interdisciplinary management of craniofacial conditions. He is currently expanding his expertise in neuromuscular dentistry through advanced training and continuing education.
Dr. Aravinthrajkumar has published multiple scientific articles, contributed to the development of the Indian Board of Orthodontics (IBO) Index, holds published patents, and actively participates in research, peer review, and academic mentorship. His goal is to integrate digital innovation, functional occlusion, and evidence-based clinical practice to enhance patient care and education.
